Every person's present is woven from two threads: their natal thread and their living thread. These threads are also the ones that will be woven into their future unless some drastic change occurs. The type pair is the combination of these two threads, and it acts as a description and identification of someone.
Your natal thread was assinged to you at birth. It is based on the sun and moon positions at that moment, and it is the same type everyone else born at the same time as you has 1. It does not change, regardless of what you do or what happens to you. It is an immutable description of your essence, the traits that define you at the deepest level.
Some people remain deeply connected to their natal thread throughout their lives. They make use of the strengths it favors them with, or they struggle against the weaknesses it imposes on them. Unlike the natal thread, the living thread is a dynamic entity. It considers the fact that sometimes, a life can change so drastically, that it might as well be a new life. That it is as if the person who lived it had been reborn. As such, your living thread is a description of who you are now, and it is based on the positions of the sun and moon at the moment of your rebirth.
The events changing your life can be joyful or tragic, but they are always transformative. They can be as as moving as the birth of a child, or as mundane as a change of job. Nobody else but you can know when your living thread has changed, there is no strict criteria for it. You know it deep in your heart.
Some people go their entire lives without changing their living thread. Their only life-changing event is their own birth, up until the moment they die. Others, however, have their living thread change multiple times.
Your living thread represents how you interact with the world right now. It shapes your current strengths and struggles. Strenghts that you might not have had before, and struggles that you might not have in the future.
As mentioned before, your type pair is the main tool your reader uses to identify you. And know when they have found your threads. During the reading, your pair will also show, through something called transpositions, how they interact with the res of the forces acting to shape your future.
Some type pairs can create harmony, reinforce your strengths, and help you overcome your struggles. Others can create tension, constantly pulling you in different directions. Ultimatelly, it is you who determines if your tap into the benefits of your pair, or if you let it become a burden.
